Mailgun is a developer-focused email delivery platform with sending, inbound routing, validation, logs, and deliverability products. Sendrealm puts email delivery inside a wider customer-messaging system that also includes audiences, broadcasts, push, automation, and shared operational analytics.

Choose Sendrealm when the same team needs transactional email, marketer-operated broadcasts, audience rules, recipient evidence, and push workflows without assembling several messaging tools.

Correcting a common comparison mistake

Mailgun should not be evaluated as a contact-priced marketing suite. Its current Send pricing is based primarily on email volume and plan capabilities. The earlier version of this article incorrectly described Mailgun as adding contact limits and advanced marketing automation; that framing did not fairly represent the product.

The more useful question is whether your team wants a specialized email infrastructure layer or a unified customer-messaging operations layer.

Pricing snapshot

As of this review, Mailgun lists:

  • a Free plan with 100 emails per day, one custom sending domain, API and SMTP, tracking/webhooks, and one-day log retention;
  • Basic starting at $15 per month for 10,000 emails, with overage options;
  • higher Foundation and Scale tiers that add volume, retention, support, validation, and deliverability capabilities.

Sendrealm's free plan currently includes 500 transactional and 250 broadcast emails per month. Paid email cost follows transactional and broadcast usage, while stored contacts do not create a contact charge.

Do not compare only the first paid tier. Model:

  • normal and peak monthly sends;
  • required log and message retention;
  • number of domains and keys;
  • validation and dedicated-resource needs;
  • campaign, audience, and push tools you would buy elsewhere;

API and SMTP evaluation

Both platforms support common integration paths, so test behavior under failure rather than stopping at the first successful email.

Your pilot should cover:

  • authenticated domain setup;
  • project/environment credential isolation;
  • a realistic template and attachment if needed;
  • duplicate-safe retry behavior;
  • bounce, complaint, delay, and rejection events;
  • recipient-level support investigation;
  • rate and validation errors;
  • key rotation without downtime.

Mailgun's API, SMTP, webhooks, SDK ecosystem, and inbound routing may be decisive for an email-infrastructure-heavy product. Sendrealm's value becomes clearer when the same event history must support campaign operators, support agents, and cross-channel workflows.

Campaigns, contacts, and team workflow

Sendrealm provides static and dynamic audiences, custom contact properties, CSV imports, campaign targeting previews, a campaign editor, scheduling, tracking choices, unsubscribe controls, and analytics in the same project as transactional delivery.

Mailgun exposes mailing lists, recipient variables, templates, and scheduled delivery among its sending capabilities. If your requirements include non-technical campaign building, complex segmentation, consent workflows, and lifecycle automation, test the complete operator experience and identify which other products are required.

This is where total architecture matters. A specialized provider plus a customer-data platform and campaign tool may be exactly right for a mature stack. For a smaller team, those boundaries can create avoidable identity, event, and incident handoffs.

Deliverability and evidence

No responsible comparison can declare a universal deliverability winner. Inbox placement depends on sender authentication, reputation, list quality, traffic, content, and recipient-provider decisions.

Mailgun offers increasingly sophisticated deliverability features on higher tiers and in related products. Sendrealm surfaces domain status, bounce and complaint metrics, event timelines, suppression history, and campaign analytics.

Evaluate both with your traffic:

  2. send the same categories of consented mail;
